Paying It Forward

Updated: Dec 9, 2019

Today I had the opportunity to work with 15 young, vibrant Physical Therapy students from Thomas Jefferson University in center city Philadelphia. Myself and three (3) other amputees worked with groups of students as they learned about the challenges of amputation, rehabilitation through physical therapy, the challenges of daily living that amputees face, and some of the unique ways we deal with life as we move forward.

Over the course of almost four hours the the learned about my physical history and current conditions, examined my limb and prosthetic, measured all my limbs, and put me through more exercises than I could possibly imagine. (The benefit for me --- I got a free stretching!!!)

Hopefully, one of those students will go on to specialize in serving the amputee community and they will be better at it because of something they learned from me today.
